WatchD.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a group of male volunteers (including the student's fathers) who act as mentors in a school setting. A man is only obligated to do one day during the school year. During the day, WatchD.O.G.S. may - greet the students when they arrive at school, read books and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, monitor students in the cafeteria, patrol the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, and any other assigned activities where they actively engage students. In many cases after doing just one day, the volunteers want to return again. Volunteers are needed as not all students have a father present in the home. At one of the schools in our area, of the 253 students enrolled, just 4 live with their biological father. So there is a great need for male volunteers to help fill the void.
